Centenario Gold Starts Phase One Work Program at Los Reyes Project
Vancouver, BC — April 16, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Centenario Gold Corp. (TSXV: CTG) has started the first phase of its work program at the Los Reyes Project, a copper and gold exploration asset near Chihuahua, Mexico.
The initial phase includes detailed mapping and sampling of old underground mine workings along a 1 km north-south trending contact zone. These workings date back to the early 1900s and have not been systematically sampled.
Following the initial mapping and sampling, the company plans a second phase, consisting of a 1,500-meter diamond drilling program to test the depth extensions of a high-grade copper-zinc-silver skarn zone previously mined by ASARCO.
Centenario Gold has submitted an environmental study report and anticipates receiving permits by late April 2026, with drilling expected to commence immediately after.
The Los Reyes property, a copper-zinc-gold skarn mineral project, is located off Highway 49, approximately 170 km south-southeast of Chihuahua. The property covers a historical mining area centered along the western contact of a 2 km diameter granodiorite intrusive body.
Historical mining activities date back to the early 1700s. In the late 1800s, ASARCO mined roughly 200,000 tons of high-grade copper-zinc-silver material at the Jibosa mine.
Valterra Resource Corporation completed the most recent exploration work in 2019 along an 800-meter north-south strike, covering the copper-gold skarn zone outcropping along the eastern edge between the Tertiary-age granodiorite intrusive and the Cretaceous-age limestones and shales. The exploration target is over 100 meters in width and hosts multiple zones of strongly copper-enriched mineralization.
Valterra Resource Corporation reported surface sampling results on December 2, 2019, with an average copper grade of 3.1%. Twenty-two of 28 samples had values exceeding 1% copper. Anomalous samples also contained elevated precious and base metal values, reaching up to 0.57g/t gold, 25.3g/t silver, 0.47% molybdenum, and 1.7% zinc.
