SuperQ Quantum Receives Federal Government Funding to Hire Talent; Appoints Seasoned Innovation Leader as VP of Global Ecosystems
Calgary, Canada – TheNewswire - October 6, 2025 - SuperQ Quantum Computing Inc. (“SuperQ Quantum”, “SuperQ”, or the “Company”) (CSE: QBTQ; Frankfurt: 25X; OTCQB: QBTQF), a global leader in quantum and supercomputing, is pleased to welcome Renae Barlow as Vice President, Global Ecosystems. Ms. Barlow will lead the expansion of SuperQ’s quantum Super™ Network around the world, in addition to growing relationships with government entities and funding bodies, and manage the Company's strategic partnerships. SuperQ will further strengthen its team by hiring exceptional talent from Canada’s top universities, supported by funding from Innovative Work-Integrated Learning Initiatives (“I-WIL”) and DIGITAL Innovation Supercluster (“DIGITAL”), channelled through AKITO & Riipen: Building Tomorrow's Workforce Program (“AKITO-Riipen”) program.
Appointment of Renae Barlow as VP, Global Ecosystems
Ms. Barlow has been recognized provincially, nationally and globally as an emerging tech ecosystem builder and economic developer. For more than 30 years, she has been at the helm of organizations and initiatives such as Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL), Tecconnect innovation centre, Elevate IP, federally funded Women Entrepreneurs in STEM program, Regional Innovation Network of Southern Alberta Standards Council Canada committees, and Global Startup Cities. Under her leadership, EDL launched the world’s first Quantum Super Hub at Tecconnect, positioning the region as a pioneering center for hybrid quantum/supercomputing access for local businesses and startups.
“I’m excited to join SuperQ to help grow a worldwide network of Quantum Super Hubs. These hubs make advanced computing accessible to businesses, innovators and communities, turning complex challenges into practical solutions and providing customer experience zones for the Super™ platform,” said Renae Barlow. “We will achieve this growth through building partnerships with governments, industry and research institutions - which aligns perfectly with my experience and passion.”
Throughout her career, Ms. Barlow has been noted for her capacity to bridge innovation, economic development, and entrepreneurship programming. Her appointment at SuperQ reflects both her deep experience in cultivating ecosystem growth and SuperQ’s ambition to strengthen its Canadian foundation and global reach.
“We are thrilled to welcome Renae to the SuperQ leadership team,” commented Dr. Muhammad Khan, CEO and Board Chair of SuperQ Quantum. “Her track record in building vibrant innovation ecosystems and her strategic acumen will be instrumental as we commercialize quantum and supercomputing worldwide. Combined with the federal funding support for research engagements with students, we are accelerating both our human resources and roadmap execution in Canada and beyond.”
Grant Funding for Hiring Top Talent
SuperQ has been approved to receive funding through the AKITO-Riipen workforce development program to hire post-secondary students for R&D projects. The funding comes from two Government of Canada grant streams namely, the I-WIL’s Riipen Level Up program and DIGITAL’s career and workforce development grant.
This funding will allow SuperQ to engage talented students in short-term innovation, research, and development assignments within its quantum computing, software and operations teams. This will accelerate project delivery while cultivating the next generation of talent in Canada’s quantum ecosystem. The Company intends to onboard students across multiple post-secondary institutions in Canada and integrate them into live, outcome-driven tasks aligned with SuperQ’s ongoing development pipeline.
The I-WIL initiative enables Canadian post-secondary students to gain meaningful, real-world work experience through short-term, technology-assisted opportunities. The Riipen Level UP program is one of several implementing partners for I-WIL, providing the infrastructure to match students with employer-defined projects and deliver stipend funding.
AKITO is a workforce and career development platform co-invested by DIGITAL and a consortium of industry partners. AKITO and Riipen have partnered to match qualified talent to innovative companies. Through this mechanism, SuperQ is now able to engage multiple students supported by government investment.
