High River Students Experience Servant Leadership. The Educational Partnership Foundation Funds Leader in Me Program
High River, AB / TheNewswire / December 7, 2016 -- Students at École Joe Clark School will experience various student leadership groups with funding provided by The Educational Partnership Foundation (TEPF).
Teachers and volunteers have created a Leader in Me program for 300 students that teaches servant leadership. Children will learn the importance of providing service to the community through gardening clubs, smile makers groups, and patrols.
School Principal Marsi Quarin-Wright said “The gardening club will be growing lettuce and making fresh salads for all our classes”. She continued “Our smile makers groups are making cards for seniors and ornaments for Fort McMurray. This would not be possible without the $500 grant from the Foundation to offset some of the costs.”
“The students are enjoying learning about servant leadership. We have school ambassadors who greet people and hold doors. We have recyclers who clean milk and juice boxes. It’s all about giving as opposed to internal benefits,” commented Marsi.
“TEPF is incredibly proud to support all of the great initiatives that are happening at Ecole Joe Clark School. From relationships to the environment, these students are making a positive difference in their community” explains Din Ladak, President & CEO of TEPF. TEPF would also like to thank ConocoPhillips for their support of the Citizenship in Action program.
The Leader in Me program is designed to develop seven leadership habits in children and help them be leaders in the community. Pictures and stories will be shared for parent information nights and used in school publications.
