Open Source Health Genomic Sequencing of PCOS Patients Completed and Precision Care Commences
Toronto, Ontario, Canada / TheNewswire / December 8, 2016: Open Source Health Inc. (CSE:OSH), (Frankfurt:0OS), a cloud based precision medicine platform for women called myAVA that puts control into the hands of women to educate, advocate and collaborate on their own healthcare is pleased to provide an update on the roll out of the platform with the first group of women in Atlanta.
“Every woman’s genomic report has provided life-altering information and has had an impact in her day-to-day life,” states Sonya Satveit, CEO of Open Source Health Inc., “Our patients are feeling empowered by their newfound knowledge and report that their healthcare providers are taking their concerns seriously and integrating this information into treatment and screening plans.”
The Precision PCOS program launched in June 2016 at the Medici Medical Arts Clinic in Atlanta with a cohort of women who were selected to enter the program to form the Patient Advisory Board. This group of women has been instrumental in influencing patient centered design around envisioning what the next generation of healthcare delivery will look like.
The launch of the myAVA platform included an initial assessment and review, specimen collection and diagnosis via the mini-myAVA testing panel. This revealed a number of unaddressed hormonal, metabolic and nutritional deficiencies in each woman. At the follow- up consultation a personalized care program was put in place by the care team, which included: lifestyle changes, medication, nutritional supplements, as well as further testing and follow-up. The highlight of the care program is the introduction of myAVA’s Precision Nutrition Program, with a focus on addressing the insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is both prevalent and under diagnosed in women with PCOS, myAva’s Precision Nutrition Program utilizes the Food Insulin Demand, a combined index count based on metabolic results. Once incorporated, the women have reported significant positive effects such as unprecedented weight loss and symptom relief, and an incredible 100% indicated an improvement in overall well being.
The next stage involved the analysis and interpretation of each woman’s DNA sequencing, specifically their exome variance, to determine disease risk and develop screening programs to monitor anyone with high risk results. This included variances and risk assessment for cancer, heart disease, autoimmune issues, mental health, reproductive health and drug metabolism.
The women are about to enter the next major phase of the program whereby they will be presented with their full molecular - digital version of Her. The integration of the proteomic, metabolomic and micro-biome data will indicate the overall health of each woman and identify potential diseases states and progression. This base line digital version of Her will then be established and monitored every 90 days, tracking the outcomes of her integrative treatments and her trending towards overall wellness.
