SuperQ Quantum Signs Partnership Agreement with The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT to Solve World's Food Challenges
Calgary, Canada – TheNewswire - September 29, 2025 - SuperQ Quantum Computing Inc. (“SuperQ Quantum”, “SuperQ”, or the “Company”) (CSE: QBTQ; Frankfurt: 25X; OTCQB: QBTQF), a global leader in quantum and supercomputing, is pleased to announce today a strategic collaboration with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT (the “Alliance”), a global network of research centres focusing on agriculture, environment and nutrition, to apply quantum and supercomputing technology to agricultural research and plant breeding. This partnership is formalized through a five year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with commercial agreements to follow, aimed at developing innovative hybrid quantum algorithms to tackle critical challenges in global food resilience and security.
The collaboration will initially focus on developing quantum-enhanced pipelines to accelerate resistance breeding against major crop diseases, such as rice blast. By leveraging quantum and supercomputing, the partnership aims to significantly speed up the discovery and development of disease-resistant crops, which is vital for protecting global food supplies and supporting the CGIAR Genetic Innovation Initiative.
"This is a continuation of our well-recognized work in agriculture and life sciences. With the Alliance's deep knowledge in agricultural science and our expertise in quantum and supercomputing, we will be tackling pressing challenges facing our planet," said Dr. Muhammad Ali Khan, CEO, Board Chair at SuperQ. "Quantum computing has the power to unlock new insights in genomics and multi-omics, helping plant breeders develop resilient crops far more efficiently than is possible today."
The MOU outlines several key objectives for the collaboration:
-
Quantum Algorithm Development: The teams will co-develop and test specialized quantum algorithms for gene regulatory networks, genomics, and multi-omics integration in crop breeding.
-
Training Programs: SuperQ will train the Alliance, CGIAR and its partner teams through workshops and accelerator programs to build their skills in applying quantum computing to their research.
-
Joint Research Pilots: The collaboration will begin with a pilot project focused on rice blast resistance before scaling to other crops within the CGIAR network.
-
Knowledge Exchange: Both organizations will share scientific outputs through joint publications and conferences, ensuring the findings benefit the wider scientific community.
"Our mission at SuperQ is to democratize quantum technology and prove its value by solving real-world challenges today, not decades from now," said Manoj Joseph, Chief Business Officer of SuperQ. "This partnership with the Alliance is a perfect embodiment of that mission. By integrating our hybrid computing platform, we are giving a vital non-profit organization the tools to tackle global food security challenges. We are not just building technology; we are building a more resilient and sustainable future, making the power of quantum technology accessible to those who need it most to drive social good."
