Northern Lights Trenches 7.5 m of 0.62% Cu at Pup, Completes First-Ever Drill Program

Vancouver, BC – TheNewswire - October 5, 2026 – Northern Lights Resources Corp. (CSE: NLR) (OTC: NLRCF) (FSE: 0ZH0) (“Northern Lights” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the conclusion of its 2026 field program at the Pup Copper Project (“Pup” or the “Project”) located in the Yukon, Canada.
Work focused on the Petal Zone, which is an open-ended 1,000 metre long by up to 500 metre wide zone with historical sample values of up to 3.799% Cu from rock grab samples and up to 2,962.9 ppm Cu from soil samples. For further details on the Project, please see the Company’s October 1st 2025 news release. The 2026 program included soil sampling, excavator trenching, rock sampling, and the completion of 7 reverse circulation (“RC”) drill holes totalling 277.36 metres.
Highlights of this work include:
-
Soil sampling returned values of up to 759 ppm Cu, which extends the Petal Zone soil anomaly approximately 100m to the northwest where it potentially remains open into an area of discontinuous permafrost and increased overburden thickness.
-
Four excavator trenches totalling 45.4 linear metres were completed to test copper soil geochemical anomalies located adjacent to the main access road. Mineralization including malachite and rare weathered sulphides was encountered, with the main host to mineralization being a quartz-chlorite-biotite schist. Channel sampling within trench T2 returned 7.5 metres of 0.621% Cu and 4.7 ppm Ag, while grab samples from trench T3 returned up to 0.997% Cu and 8.1 ppm Ag.
-
RC drilling targeted mineralization identified by trenching, as well as soil and rock geochemical targets within the core of the Pup soil anomaly. Fine disseminated sulphides were noted within all holes, with malachite identified in hole 3. Analytical results for drilling will be released once they are received, compiled and interpreted.
Luka Capin, Interim CEO of Northern Lights, commented: “In a single season, we took Pup from a grassroots soil anomaly to a drill-tested copper target. Trenching confirmed copper mineralization in bedrock at Petal, including 7.5 metres of 0.62% Cu, and we followed that up with the first drill holes ever completed on the Project, all through a cost-effective program. We eagerly look forward to sharing analytical results as they become available.”
Pup is located approximately 10 kilometres west of the regional centre of Dawson City. It consists of 90 quartz claims totalling approximately 1,820 hectares and is accessible via a network of dirt roads leading to two active placer gold mines. The Project holds a Class 3 exploration permit, valid for 10 years from October 29, 2025, allowing for drilling, trenching, trail construction, and limited road building. Targets on the property include the Petal Zone (the subject of this news release), the Finn Zone which has yielded soil samples with up to 2,085.8 ppm Cu and rocks up to 3,082 ppm Cu, and the Gismo Zone, where soils have returned up to 632.3 ppm Cu along with anomalous Cu-Mo-Au-Ag in rock samples.

Analytical Procedures
Soil and rock samples were submitted to the Bureau Veritas sample prep facility in Whitehorse, Yukon. Rock samples were crushed to 70% passing 2 mm, with a 250 g subsample pulverized to >85% passing -75 microns, while soil samples were sieved to -80 mesh. All samples were analyzed for multi-element geochemistry by Aqua Regia digestion and ICP-MS analysis; method AQ201. Rock samples with values exceeding 2,500 ppm copper via method AQ201 were further analyzed by method MA370 which is a 4-Acid digestion with ICP-ES analysis that provides ore grade (percentage) values.
