Uber ($UBER) and Motional Launch First Robotaxi Service using Autonomous Vehicles

Green Stock News LLC

Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) and Motional have announced the launch of their public robo taxi service in Las Vegas, NV. For the first time ever, Uber customers are able to hail an autonomous ride using Motional's all-electric robotaxis.

This is the first service in the two company’s 10-year partnership that will leverage Motional’s Level 4 autonomous vehicles for ride hailing and meal deliveries on the Uber network across the United States. The robo taxi service will be rolled out in Las Vegas with plans to expand into Los Angeles, California in the future.

Motional says that the launch represents the first autonomous vehicle company to offer both ride hailing and delivery services on a major network. Combining Motional’s autonomous vehicle expertise, with the world renowned Uber network, enables consumers to experience affordable autonomous rides in a safe and convenient way.

Noah Zych, Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery at Uber stated: "Motional has proven themselves to be an industry leader, steadily and safely progressing autonomous technology towards a driverless future.”

Motional is a driverless technology company making autonomous vehicles (AVs) a safe, reliable, and accessible reality.

Founded in 2010, Uber is an on-demand ride-hailing service with operations in more than 65 countries and 450 cities worldwide.
