Congratulations to Volt Carbon Technologies on Second U.S. Patent and Graphene Achievement

First Canadian Graphite Inc.

October 3, 2025 – TheNewswire - Montreal, Quebec – First Canadian Graphite Inc. ("First Canadian Graphite" or the "Company" or "FCI") (TSX-V: FCI, FSE: BK20) is pleased to congratulate its partner, Volt Carbon Technologies Inc., on receiving a Notice of Allowance for a continuation of its U.S. patent on proprietary air classifier technology, as well as on its recent achievements in graphene development.

This announcement builds on the collaboration established through the Preliminary Mineral Processing Agreement signed June 5, 2023, between First Canadian Graphite (formerly Green Battery Minerals) and Volt Carbon Technologies.

Volt Carbon Technologies Inc. (TSX-V: VCT) (OTCQB: TORVF) October 2, 2025 news release (link below) highlights two significant milestones:

  • Graphene Achievement Successful production and independent verification of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets from Berkwood flake graphite, delivering 40–60% improved mechanical properties when mixed into epoxy resin, the standard matrix used in aerospace carbon fiber composites.

  • Second U.S. Patent Notice of Allowance: Expanding protection for Volt Carbon's air classifier technology, enhancing graphite processing efficiency and advanced material applications.

Importantly, Volt Carbon's patent and graphene achievements were made using graphite sourced from First Canadian Graphite's Berkwood project, confirming the quality and suitability of the Company's deposit for advanced processing and next-generation applications.

Reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) is an advanced material derived from natural graphite that combines the ease of processing graphene oxide with many of the exceptional properties of pure graphene. rGO retains graphene's high strength, conductivity, and surface area, making it highly attractive for applications in batteries, energy storage, aerospace composites, and advanced materials.

These results demonstrate not only the strength of Volt Carbon's technology platform but also the quality and potential of Berkwood graphite as a feed source for high-value advanced materials. Together, this strengthens the foundation for First Canadian Graphite's partnership with Volt Carbon and underscores the significant opportunities in graphite processing, energy storage, and advanced composites markets.

CEO Quote:

"The successful production of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) using graphite from our Berkwood project is a powerful validation of the quality of our resource," said Tom Yingling, President & CEO of First Canadian Graphite. "It demonstrates how our graphite can move beyond traditional uses and into high-value applications such as batteries, aerospace composites, and advanced materials. This achievement underscores the strategic importance of our project in meeting the growing global demand for next-generation carbon technologies."

About the Berkwood Graphite Project

The Berkwood Graphite Project is located within the jurisdiction of Quebec, in the Manicouagan Regional County Municipality, three hours driving time from the city of Baie-Comeau. Easy access is provided via a major secondary road and numerous tertiary and forest roads that traverse the property.

The Zone 1 resource lies 8 km southwest of Nouveau Monde’s deposit which has a $3.5 billion NPV on it. The Companies Zone 1 resource, and that of Nouveau Monde, share many similar geological characteristics, with the Zone 1 resource being of exceptionally high grade and coarse flake size by global standards.

The current mineral resource at the Berkwood Graphite Project includes in-pit constrained resource totalling 1,755,300 tonnes of indicated resources at 17.00 % Cgr and 1,526,400 tonnes in inferred resources at 16.39 % Cgr.

About the Company: First Canadian Graphite is managed by a team with over 150 years collectively with a proven track record of not just finding numerous mines but building and operating them too.  Frist Canadian Graphite Inc. management team’s most recent success is discovering the Berkwood graphite resource in Northern Quebec. Green Battery Mineral owns this asset 100 percent, and the Company’s shareholders will benefit from this asset as the demand for Graphite for electric vehicles increases significantly.
